I had to replace a Mobo for a friend and run a reinstall. As I always do, I have had trouble with the sound drivers. Bought the Mobo off Ebay, so no driver discs. There is a link there, but the page needs "more info", which doesn' t help me because I can only search for Sony products.
Found that these Mobo's may have once lived in a Veriton Went to Acer site, found the appropriate model and audio drivers. Installed, but still no sound. Device manager shows everything as a-ok - no yellow exclamation marks or errors of any kind. I found some soundmax drivers, but it stated the driver was not installed during installation?
I found some VIA Vinyl drivers, which did install, but still have no sound. Same thing as before: Device manager says all good, but can't hear a damn thing! And yes, I checked the volume control to be sure. Is my understanding correct that there is a volume control panel apart from the volume control that could be turned down?
Or am I trippin on that one? Thanks for all your help. I have been very successful here in the past and look forward to seeing you geniuses pull me out of a ditch again! System Utilities Components. Remember this is integrated sound, not a PCI card. Thanks anyways guys. I also thought I would track down soundmax integrated sound drivers, but stated that the hardware is not supported.
It may be because I have already installed ac'97? I dont know how to uninstall if thats the case. Found the sound control panel and everything is turned on and up. Nothing is muted. Also double checked cabling and all is well.
All of life is about relationships, and EE has made a viirtual community a real community. It lifts everyone's boat. Sorry for the HUGE delay in getting back. Little ones take all your time sometimes! I will download the live CD and give it a go. I was actually thinking bad sound card, but didn't know how to test. The reason for the reinstall was that after replacing the Mobo I got a loop boot. You know, boots to splash, then goes black and begins the boot again. So reinstall.
